After the collapse of Samo’s Empire Slavs in the middle of Central Europe (in present-day Slovakia and Czech Republic, Moravia-section) in the 9th century made two principalities conducted by Pribina and Moravian led by Mojmir. Just his ambitious successor Rastislav in 833 conquered Pribina territory to create a Great Moravian Empire. Pribina from Nitra fled to the Eastern Frankish Empire, whence came his wife, who was from an important family in the Franconian town of Regensburg. After the pattern of his wife adopted in Traismauer (40 km north of Vienna) Christianity. In 828 put her in Nitra to build the first Christian Church of Saint Emeram, which was the first of this kind not only in Central Europe, but throughout Eastern Europe. Great Moravian Empire by power strengthened and extended Rastislav’s successor, his nephew Svatopluk on territories of nowadays Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, the eastern part of today’s Austria, Germany and very small parts of today’s Poland and Slovenia. Sv\u00e4topluk received from the Pope the title of king but after his death in 894 the empire gradually fell apart under his two sons Mojmir II. and Svatopluk II. and as a result of the military invasion of the Eastern Franc armies and nomadic Magyar tribes who came to this area from Asia at the end of the 9th century. In 902 they were able to conquer the central area of Great Moravia and began to build part of their kingdom, to which also incorporated \u00a0Slovakia.<\/p>\n
