V tomto školskom roku oslavuje Škola slovanských štúdií v Londýne 100. výročie svojho vzniku, ktorá v súčasnosti nesie názov School of Slavonic and Easteuropean Studies a je súčasťou University College London. Študujú na nej študenti z celého sveta, ktorí poznávajú reálie, literatúru, jazyky a spoločenské trendy slovanských národov a ostatných národov strednej a východnej Európy. Svoje miesto v učebnom programe tu majú i slovenské štúdie. Túto celosvetovo významnú a svojho druhu najväčšiu na celom svete otvoril na King’s College pražský univerzitný profesor T.G. Masaryk dňa 15.októbra 1915 svojou inauguračnou prednáškou s názvom Európska kríza a malé národy. Pozval ho Róbert William Seton-Watson, význmaný historik, publicista, ktorý svojou publikačnou činnosťou a svojími aktivitami bojoval za práva malých utláčaných národov bývalej Rakúsko-Uhorskej monarchie, kde na prvom mieste boli Slováci, ktorých postavenie bolo najťažšie. Z toho dôvodu z úcty k jeho aktívnej činnosti za práva slovenského národa pripravujeme medzinárodnú konferenciu s názvom Political and cultural transfers between Great Britain and Central and Southeast Europe and R.W. Seton-Watson in the first half of 20th century,
This school year School of Slavonic Studies in London celebrates the 100th anniversary of its foundation, which now bears the name of the School of Slavonic Studies and East European and is part of University College London. They studied at the best students from around the world who get to know the cultural studies, literature, languages and social trends of the Slavic peoples and other peoples of Central and Eastern Europe. Its place in the apprentice program, there are also studies Slovak. This globally important and largest of its kind in the world was opened at King’s College by Prague University professor T. G. Masaryk’s inaugural lecture entitled ‚European crisis and small nations on 15 October 1915 . He invited him Robert William Seton-Watson, famous British historian, journalist, that their publications and their activities fighting for the rights of small oppressed nations of the former Austria-Hungarian Empire, which at first were Slovaks, whose status was the most difficult. Therefore, out of respect for his active work for the rights of the Slovak nation to prepare an international conference entitled Political and cultural transfers between Great Britain and Central and Southeast Europe and R.W. Seton-Watson in the first half of 20th century.

Veľvyslanec SR v Londýne Ľubomír Rehák odovzdal 29. októbra 2015 poverovacie listiny kráľovnej Alžbete II. v Buckinghamskom paláci. Kráľovná mu pripomenula, že má v živej pamäti svoju štátnu návštevu Slovenska v roku 2008, srdečné a spontánne reakcie Slovákov, s ktorými sa vtedy stretla. Prejavila tiež obdiv k prírodným a historickým krásam Slovenska., ktoré mala možnosť niektoré z nich poznať. Vyjadrila presvedčenie, že nový veľvyslanec bude pokračovať v budovaní priateľských a vzájomne výhodných vzťahov medzi Veľkou Britániou a Slovenskom. Veľvyslancovi, jeho rodine a kolektívu veľvyslanectva popriala úspešné pôsobenie v Londýne. Pri príležitosti odovzdania poverovacích listín podaroval kráľovnej symbolické dary zo Slovenska – ručne vyrobenú karafu na víno od spoločnosti RONA Lednické Rovne s vyše 120-ročnou sklárskou tradíciou a aktívnymi obchodnými vzťahmi s Veľkou Britániou. Druhým darom bol slávny Radošínsky Klevner – biele víno z Radošiny, ktoré sa podávalo na svadbe kráľovnej Alžbety II. v roku 1947, ako aj počas jej návštevy na Slovensku.
